Job description

About the job

There’s a gap between a great design and a great garment, and you’re the one who closes it.

At Suspicious Antwerp, we build products people actually want to wear. Our design team is strong, but we need someone who can bridge the space between creative vision and production: someone who looks at a piece of garment, spots exactly why it isn’t sitting right, and knows precisely how to communicate the fix to our factory.

You translate the design input into a real product that fits, is well made and hits its cost. You own can we make it, does it fit, at what cost. The Brand Lead gives direction and is consulted on product; you run the development hands-on, from first idea to final fit.

Job requirements

What you'll be doing

  • Run new product developments from start to finish

  • Write tech packs: fit and construction instructions and initial size specs

  • Follow up new fits until the final OK

  • Weigh cost against product, together with Production and the Production Manager

  • Set up fabric choices in relation to the product at the start of development

  • Finalise fitting files with the Garment Technician

  • Develop products for special projects and collabs

  • Source fabrics within given directions, and support the Brand Lead with product input for moodboards

  • Own the launch of new developments and fits

  • Own the final fit and construction of samples

  • Own the fabric sourcing and choice for each product

  • Deliver complete, correct tech packs

What you bring

  • 3+ years as a product developer in fashion (womenswear)

  • Solid fit knowledge, with pattern and grading basics

  • Fabric knowledge: composition, weights, hand feel and finishing

  • Experience with tech packs

  • Experience in product costing and working with suppliers at a distance

  • Strength in fit, fabric and construction: making the design work as a product, first time right

  • A strong fashion and product feeling that fits spot-on with us: you feel and understand our brand identity and our market, and you know our community and competitors

  • Affinity with the technical side of fashion

  • Organised across many open samples at once

  • Persistent, clear follow-up with suppliers

  • Problem solving when a sample doesn’t meet the request

  • Willing to run the extra mile together with the team

Send in your CV, your portfolio, a cover letter that knocks our socks off and a small product presentation:

  • Portfolio: a visual presentation of developments, achievements and related experience you built or worked on

  • Product presentation: 4 to 5 reference products or fits that are relevant to our brand identity and community feeling, and hit the sweet spot between our competitors
